Your Introduction To Belgian Brilliance™
Belgian Brilliance™: Defying The Norm.
Editors Note: On most blogs, especially Brett’s pre-grammarly, I will fix the grammar and writing. However, as you can see, Louis is from Belgium. I have no idea what his level of English writing is, what is his first language, or if he can even actually speak English. So, I am going to leave it for authenticity. With love. -Dean
To quickly introduce myself: My name is Louis, 23 years old, and I am absolutely in love with the game of baseball. Yes. In love with baseball, yet born & raised in Belgium.
We exist.
I have a BsC in Sports Science: Football Coaching & Performance & worked as Data & Video Analyst for a professional football team. My favourite team? The Padres.
What to expect: Look where no one else is looking.
Baseball writing is a very intriguing scene. Everyone has an opinion, yet everyone bases their opinion on the opinion of someone else. You know what I’m trying to say?
But I operate different. Different from what everyone else does. I don’t care about what people think. Caring what people think makes you the 507th baseball writer that believes Eric Bitonti & Jesus Made are going to be superstars & writes the 700th article about them.
I want to find anomalies. Players that stand out. Players that fly under the radar.
Here are a few examples:
April 17th: My first article on then unknown rookie, Jackson Merrill.
May 22nd: My first (of many) articles on Deyvison De Los Santos, who is a Top 20 prospect on my list.
June 11th: Justin Martinez is a generational talent - first article highlighting how good the Diamondbacks’ reliever has been.
All I try to do is find players that are performing exceptionally well & aren’t receiving adequate attention for what they’re doing. This can range from a random prospect at High-A to an MLB player. My thoughts are often straight against what most writers think. I go off my analytical expertise. I don’t care about prospect rankings. I care about what the numbers & video say.
What’s in it for you?
What you do with the information I provide is entirely up to you. Want to sound smart at the next family gathering? Go for it. Impress some girl with in-depth knowledge of an obscure prospect that plays in Single-A? Could do. Fantasy baseball GM that wants to find the next big thing? I got you. Investing in cards? Let’s do it.
