Some people will read this title and immediately think it is a hit piece against Aaron Judge. It isn’t! Although he did inspire the idea. No, I felt this blog should come out before this World Series ends. Frankly, this is me showing I can write about something, not the Red Sox or Yankee bashing. With that, I would like to plug my “The Comeback” review which is sitting in the drafts and will come out this afternoon :).
I wanted to examine the “Top 10 Contracts In MLB History” and see their postseason numbers. So, I used Stathead (the paid version of Baseball Reference) to make some spreadsheets that I then had Casey Byte (my AI bot) analyze for me. I then added the number of rings that each player won.
My first takeaway is the number of rings across this Top 10. It is a total of only four! Of those four, they all came from two players. Now, this number will change by tonight with the Dodgers winning in five. Still, seven of the ten players will not have a ring.
What does this mean? In the grand scheme of things, there is nothing, but I thought it would be fun to look at. I can’t critique the contracts because without paying these guys for the regular season, you would never see them in the postseason.
