Well, the Yankees have lost four of their last six games.
PANIC MODE has been activated.
The pitching has been bad. The Yankees are now asking to lose games? This past week was a rough one for New York fans. Marcus Stroman continues to be a headache and has now been added to the IL with knee inflammation.
Detroit Tigers Series (Away)
Game 1: L 6-2 | Game 2: L 5-0 | Game 3: W 4-3
San Francisco Giants Series (Home)
Game 1: L 9-1 | Game 2: W 8-4 | Game 3: L 5-4
Now, halfway through April, the Yankees have lost their grip on first place in the division. This is not a big worry, as the American League East was always going to be a dogfight throughout the entire regular season. I’d expect these standings will constantly change as all of these teams can go on a run.
We knew the Yankees would have their hands full to start the season without Gerrit Cole and Luis Gil available to pitch. Now, without Stroman, the Yankees rotation is depleted to the point where I am now concerned. The good news is Clarke Schmidt is back, and he is slated to make his season debut on Wednesday when the Yankees take on the Kansas City Royals.
The Rotation as of 11.14.2025 @12:40pm EST
LHP Carlos Rodon
LHP Max Fried
RHP Will Warren
RHP Clarke Schmidt
RHP Carlos Carrasco
This is VERY concerning! There is room for optimism as Warren is very young and has shown some promise, and Luis Gil will be entering a pitching program relatively soon. That being said, the Yankees are relying heavily on a thirty-eight-year-old, a rookie, and a Clarke Schmidt fresh off the IL to essentially hold the line down until reinforcements arrive.

The bats were mainly quiet last week. Aaron Judge and Ben Rice have both been hot to start the season. Goldschmidt had a homerun robbed and still batted .409 in the last two series. Once Jazz Chisholm Jr., Austin Wells & Cody Bellinger all get going, this lineup is going to be a problem! The Martian is batting .240 with a .718 OPS, if he performs up to half of the expectations that have been put upon him, the Yankees can arguably have one of the best lineups in baseball.
