A huge fear of mine the last few months was The Skippers View becoming too much “Dean.” What I mean by that is the voice and feel of the X account, website, YouTube, etc, being in my voice and leaning towards my bias and opinions. Once we put together this team and launched 2025 with a bang, I wanted to make sure that my voice sticks to my stuff. The Skippers View itself needs to be an unbiased (sometimes) baseball account that promotes the thoughts of all our writers.
This belief was compounded the other day when I walked into Starbucks to get my last “Christmas Flavor” latte of the year. I walked past a dude on his computer and could have sworn I saw what looked like a blog from our website. I didn’t want to seem weird and hover over him, so I grabbed my peppermint white mocha latte with oat milk and plopped myself beside him. Indeed, he was on our website, and at that moment, he clicked the home page. Lo and behold, my face smack was in the middle of the home page. Panicked, I hopped up and ran out of the store.
For a moment, I felt like, “We made it.” As I considered it further, I decided to ensure that “my voice” was separate from the brand as a whole going forward. It seems weird and unnatural for me to post a video about “The Top 10 Catchers of All-Time,” which is immediately followed by a video of Brett, Mikey OC, and Nicks's Picks talking.
So, below, I have my YouTube and podcast feeds. If anyone is at all even a little amused by what I talk about, I ask you to give them a follow below!
If, somehow, you are on this blog and haven’t subscribed to the website as well, you should do so immediately.
