The 10 Highest-Rated Prospects in This Year’s MLB Draft
From high school standouts to dominant college arms, this year’s draft class is absolutely loaded with upside and star potential.
With the 2025 MLB Draft less than a week away, this year’s class features a fascinating mix of explosive, high-upside, and elite high school talent and polished collegiate stars. Several players in this group have already drawn comparisons to MLB stars and other draft prospects from the previous 2024 class, while others are just scratching the surface of what they could become. I couldn’t be more excited to watch this year’s draft, but let’s take a look at the 10 Highest-Rated Prospects in This Year’s MLB Draft!
1. Ethan Holliday
The 18-year-old stands at 6'4", 210 LBS, and possesses power to all fields with an explosive swing from the left side. He hit .617 with 16 HR and had an OPS north of 2.000 in 2025. He also just captured Oklahoma’s Gatorade Player of the Year award this season.
2. Kade Anderson
Anderson has a real shot to be the #1 overall pick this year after solidifying himself as the best pitcher in college baseball. He can touch 97 MPH from the left side with just under 20 iVB and a CB that, at times, is well over 3,000 RPMs. He had 180 K in 119 IP and absolutely dominated this season!
3. Seth Hernandez
Seth Hernandez stands at 6’4” and has arguably the highest upside among all SP in the draft. He has four plus pitches (including a 70 grade fastball).
CB up to 3,000 RPMs
FF up to 100 with over 2,500 RPMs
CH with late fade and arm action
SL/CT manipulation
4. Jamie Arnold
His main comp at the moment is Braves LHP Chris Sale. Both have very similar shapes, despite being unique releases. Arnold can reach up to 97 MPH and can keep his stuff deep into games, which makes him stand out compared to other arms. He has a solid changeup but is primarily a fastball/slider pitcher.
5. Eli Willits
Eli Willits already displays elite footwork and ++ hands at SS, and has great twitch and instincts at 17. He can hit from both sides of the plate while projecting to stay at short at the Minor League-MLB level. He is a well-rounded 55-60 grade player all across the board.
6. Aiva Arquette
Arquette, for some evaluators, has the highest upside among all position players in this year's class. Standing at 6'5'' 220, he possesses effortless raw power from the right side and should be a 20-25 HR bat at the MLB level while having solid range at SS.
7. Billy Carlson
Carlson, for most, is the best defender at shortstop, and some evaluators rate his glove at a 70-grade. He displays exceptional instincts at shortstop and at the plate with a smooth, right-handed swing. He has a tight coil and is twitchy with power that will develop naturally.
8. Liam Doyle
Doyle dominated this year, posting a 3.20 ERA in 95.2 IP and holding hitters to just a .184 batting average against. Doyle stands out with a 75-grade fastball that sits in the mid-90s but can reach up to 99 MPH from the left side and rides it to the top of the zone.
9. Jo Jo Parker
He displays a very effortless swing from the left side and has posted 105 MPH+ EVs in BP at various showcases. He has power to all fields and uses his entire body very well through the zone. This is a 20-25 HR bat with a starting frame of 6'2", 200 LBS at 18.
10. Kyson Witherspoon
He has four offerings that are at least a 60 grade or higher, with his fastball being the highest, sitting in the mid-90s and touching 99 MPH. The fastball plays more cut-ride, while his SL has a bullet-like (gyro) movement, and his CH gets good whiffs.
