Injuries to J.D. Davis & Mitch Haniger have forced the Giant’s hand and as a result Venezuelan 21 year old outfielder, Luis Matos, will be getting the call. Upon arriving from Double-A with his mid-May promotion to Triple-A he has hit the ground running, slashing .396/.434/.660 with 6 home runs, 19 RBI and a 1.094 OPS through 23 games. Matos has always been an exceptional defender (won Defender of the Year in 2022 - Arizona Fall League) but did see struggles with the bat in Single-A due to a quad injury and pitchers starting to take advantage of his aggressiveness at the plate.
Matos looks to be a key contributor in this San Francisco lineup and will join the team in St. Louis to help close out their series against the ailing Cardinals. During the course of the 2023 season some would say Matos has climbed to the top of the Giants farm system as their #1 prospect. I would say he is a must add across all formats of fantasy baseball unless it is a really shallow league. Obviously with recent results it's

hard to argue that he will do anything besides produce but I always have a slight concern with aggressive batters and their first crack at the big leagues as pitching in the bigs is unlike anything else.
Another note to take home is that Matos will become the 2nd youngest position player in the MLB, only older than Jordan Walker of the Cardinals. Matos will be active Wednesday starting in Centerfield and we can see the two youngsters clash for some exciting Wednesday night baseball.
Good luck Luis and welcome to the show!
