I know I just posted a blog a few hours ago, but I want to keep up with my Red Sox series reviews. I also need to keep the lights on at this company. In one week I have match Brett’s blog production from April-July. This equates to about 10.3 bWAR for me and -7.5 bWAR for Brett. Not boasting, just laying out the analytics.
If you haven’t read my “All-Star Snubs” blog, I will throw it below.
All-Star Game Snubs
Alright, back to the Red Sox!
Overall Takeaway
I love watching the Red Sox this summer. As many of you have probably seen in my previous blogs, I changed jobs and was able to free up my summer completely. Back to having summers off means more baseball. I can not wait to be at Fenway on Tuesday night! Saturday’s day game was a charity donation to the Yankees. It would be unjust to sweep them. The second the big lights of primetime are on however, the Red Sox step up and the Yankees crawl into a hole.
If I am a Yankee fan, I would seriously start to worry that Juan Soto runs this off-season. He is in a slump right now and the Yankees have not been able to win without him playing at an MVP level. If he wants to go to a winner I think the Red Sox can find a place for him.
Game 1: Red Sox 5-3
Game 2: Yankees 14-4
Game 3: Red Sox 3-0
What I Loved
Rafael Devers Owning Gerrit Cole
1,000th career hit, followed by his 8th home run against Cole. I honestly felt bad for Cole. It looked like he was about to cry on the mound. It was worth the Red Sox getting buried the rest of the game.
Homers in Game 3 to break the tie.
That barehand play made jump out of my chair. There is no reason he should be sitting behind Jose Ramirez at the All-Star game. Complete sham.
Omg he just homered again.
Masataka Yoshida Resurgence
He is batting .346 over the last seven games. He has not hit for power this year but came in huge on Friday with a game-tying shot on a full count with two outs.
All-Star Selections
Conor Wong was always a pipe dream, so I am happy with the players that got the call. Duran, Devers, and Houck are three of the best players in the league, and they deserve the selection. I still think you could argue that Duran and Devers should be starting.
Ceddanne Rafaela
He was in my “loved” section last review, and he is here again.
Only Red Sox EVER to have 50 RBI’s and 10 stolen bases before the All-Star game.
If I gambled, I don’t, the two bets I would be making right now are Paul Skenes CY Young and Rafaela ROY.
Dominic Smith
Batting .333 with an .867 OPS in the last seven games. I have ragged on him a lot this season, but he has been hustling the past few series’.
Kutter Crawford’s Chest Hair
The Weather Channel put out a heat advisory in the Bronx tonight. It wasn’t for the humidity……
Aaron Boone
I might be able to manage better then him at this point.
What I Was "Mid" About
NADA
What I Didn't Love
ESPN
I don’t want to watch games that aren’t on NESN. This is a minor complaint that I think is held by many. The Yankee bias on ESPN is just unbearable. I like Aaron Judge, but I don’t want to sleep with him like the announcers on ESPN do.
The announcers were giving credit to Chaim Bloom and Alex Cora on everything. We get it Cora worked with you, but Dave Dombrowski put together a large portion of this team.
