Overall Takeaway
I’m writing this from behind home plate at Yankee Stadium, it will probably release a little later because I’ll be stuck in traffic, but most of what I write will be from ten rows back at Yankee Stadium.
This is my first time back in the Bronx for a game in about a decade. Let me start by saying, I absolutely hate it. I hate the smells, the food, the traffic, everything. But when these tickets were offered to me, I knew I had to take them.
The Red Sox dominated this series from start to…. About three innings into Sunday night.
It was clear to everyone in the Stadium that May should have been taken out after the 3rd inning, but Cora wanted to save the pen, which I get. Was still tough to watch. Everything the Yankees made contact with was rocked.
Game 1: Red Sox 6-3
Game 2: Red Sox 1-0
Game 3: Red Sox 12-1
Game 4: Yankees 7-2
What I Loved
Brayan Bello
Bello continues to be this generations Pedro Martinez against the Yankees. As you can see in the graphic below, his expected numbers would indicate a
Trevor Story
Obviously, the hero of the series. His 9 pitch at bat against Rodon was a thing of beauty. Rodon missed by a foot with that last pitch, and almost got himself thrown out complaining as he left the game.
Roman Anthony
Roman was alternating games in terms of producing, but that line drive he had in the 6th sounded like it was going to leave the stadium. Can confirm, he is better looking in person.
Garrett Crochet
Crochet, in my opinion, put himself back in the Cy Young lead with this performance. The numbers are almost dead even, and Crochet has proven to step up in big games.
Carlos Narvaez
Something that I never noticed until tonight, because I’m sitting right behind home plate, is that Narvaez will look to dugout on a close pitch and tell the umpire if he missed it. This is probably a known thing, but it is a new known thing to me.
What I Was "Mid" About
Dustin May
He struggled from the first pitch and was getting hammered whenever a hitter made contact. Clear that Cora left him in the game to try and save the pen, which became impossible come the 5th.
What I Didn't Love
Nothing
I could nit pick and mention Nate Eaton playing center field, but I am all about positivity right now.
Little lighter on my review this week being that I ended up at the game spontaneously. Look for me at Fenway next Saturday.
