Dean’s Corner
I am currently sitting next to Brett as we watch the first NFL Sunday with our friends. But this is a baseball website, so you won’t catch me dead caring about Week 1 of the NFL. Twice, Brett has tried to close my laptop and have me socialize, but I am married to this game called content. So here is a quick review of the Red Sox vs White Sox series.
Overall Takeaway
Does sweeping the White Sox mean the Red Sox are #back?
Editor's Note: Well, that didn’t age well.
Game 1- Red Sox 3-1
Game 2- Red Sox 7-5
Game 3- White Sox 7-2
What I Loved
Tyler O’Neill
Two home runs yesterday. It is now time to start thinking about what a contract could look like for him. I hesitate to give him a contract that is longer than two years. He has been fun to watch, but he still will only play around 110 games.
Trevor Story Return
I have been outspoken about Trevor Story’s contract. You would have to dig deep, but one of my first blogs on our old website was when Story was signed. He is seemingly a great teammate, so I am happy to see him back.
Seeing Andrew Benintendi At Fenway
I often forget that Andrew Benintendi was the #1 prospect in baseball in 2017. It was fun to see him back at Fenway, and I didn’t mind seeing him hit a home run.
Just a note: While Benintendi has not played great these last few years, the Red Sox got literally nothing in that deal. I wish it never happened.
Cooper Criswell
Another solid performance. Since August 21st, he has lowered his era from 4.56 to 4.11. It's nothing crazy, but it's a nice piece to have.
What I Was "Mid" About
Kenley Jansen Being Done.. And That Not Done
Reports came out that Jansen “would not pitch until his lat was better.” That lasted a few hours as he got the save last night.
Only a month left of his Red Sox career. I won’t be upset when he’s gone.
Bullpen
I had the bullpen in the love section…. and then the 9th inning happened.
What I Didn't Love
NOTHING
Well, losing Sunday stunk.
