Game 1: Red Sox 9–3
Game 2: Red Sox 10–2
Game 3: Red Sox 10-2
Overall Takeaway
Feels wrong beating up on the Rockies like the Sox did this week. Boston has been given a gift the last week as they played the two worst teams in baseball. However, they swept both and now are on a four series win streak.
I mentioned it last week, but this is eerily similar to the 2024 mid way point where the Sox were on a roll and then came out flat after the break. They will be playing some of the best teams in baseball at the end of July, so they need any win they can get right now.
What I Loved
Roman Anthony
Roman continues to get on base at a consistent rate and has earned Cora's blessing to face more left handed pitching.
Masataka Yoshida
Very excited to see Masataka back. I’m in a wait and see mode in terms of how Cora will handle all the hot hands right now. Overall, I have been happy with what Cora is doing with the lineup the last few weeks
Ceddanne Rafaela
Clear snub for the All-Star roster. Good chance he has a .800 OPS at the All-Star break.
Contract looking good right now.
Lucas Giolito
0.70 ERA over his last six starts. All quality starts. I said last week to trade him. I no longer want that. Go for the playoffs.
Brayan Bello
Last year, Brett said that the Red Sox should “ramp” Bello up and trade him. Well, he is ramped up, and he is not going anywhere.
Romy Gonzalez
I hinted towards it above, no one can argue with what Cora is doing right now with the lineup. Romy Gonzalez is the perfect example of that.
What I Was ‘Mid’ About
Joe Ryan Reports
A lot of chatter today about the Red Sox checking in on Joe Ryan. A name that was being thrown around in hypothetical packages was Duran. While I am “mid” about Ryan, I am fully against Duran being included in any trade. He is part of the lifeblood of this team right now. He has turned is season around right when the team has as well, and that is no coincidence. Send someone else.
What I Didn’t Love
Nothing
I can never complain when there is a clean sweep two series’ in a row.
