Are The Red Sox A Playoff Team?

Overall Takeaway

I firmly believe that when Casas comes back this team will go on a run and secure a Wild Card spot. I don’t think they need to make any crazy moves at the deadline either. Keep all the prospects who cares this team is destined for October.

I was able to watch Friday and Sunday, but may or may not have lost an engagement ring and had to go on a mission for 10 hours Saturday to find it. No comments at this time.

What I Loved

• Jarren Duran

  • I sound like a broken record, but the fact that he is not in the top TWENTY for All-Star voting drives me nuts. Frankly, the fact that Red Sox Nation get to this point is ridiculous. He dominated this series going 7-13, stealing bags, robbing home runs, and smiling all the way.

• Zack Kelly

  • He goes and gets the win Saturday and then starts Sunday going 2.2 and giving up no runs. The bullpen carried the team the whole weekend and it was led by Kelly.

• Dom Smith

  • For all the hate he gets, he has held it down offensively while Casas has been gone batting .286 over the last 15 games. I don’t know what his role will be in a few weeks, but hopefully he sticks around.

• Connor Wong

  • I am screaming from the rooftops for Duran to be an All-Star that I am forgetting about Wong. With Salvador Perez banged up, I expect Wong to slide into a roster spot behind Rutchsman. Well deserved. Also, hit two home runs this series :).

• Being A Wild Card Team

  • Yes, I am jumping the gun, but looks like the Royals are going to lose today, so the Sox would slide into the last WC spot. The fact that we are entering the Dog Days of Summer smack in the middle of a playoff race gets my juices flowing.

What I Was "Mid" About

• Kutter Crawford

  • Did you know that Crawford was 3-7 on the season? I didn’t. Makes sense with his 5.36 ERA over the last seven games where the team has gone 1-5. He pitched “mid” on Friday going 6.1 and giving up three.

What I Didn't Love

• Rafael Devers

  • Kind of falling off the last few weeks. Power has disappeared with only one hime run in the last 15 games. The last time I threw him in this category he went off. Let’s see that happen again.
