Dean’s Corner
This blog was meant to come out last night as the series ended, but was delayed as we were recording during the end of the game. Instead, I decided to put it in my back pocket in case Brett didn’t post his blog in time. And look where we are. Will from Overdue Sports would be disgusted.
I am just trying to savor these last few games of the 2024 season. I am popping my headphones in, ignoring my fiancé, and listening to Joe Castiglione a few more times. I look forward to watching the playoffs as a fan of the game and addict of creating content. But, it will not be the same.
Overall Takeaway
The most exciting part about this team, is that in a span of a month I thought they were going to march into the playoffs and now they might be dead last in the AL East.
Game 1- Rays 8-3
Game 2- Red Sox 2-1
Game 3- Rays 2-0
What I Loved
Bello Finishing The Season Above Average
Over the last month, Bello has pitched 34.2 innings/ 29Ks/ 3.38 ERA/ 1.24 WHIP.
That is “above average” and hopefully a sign of things to come (We have heard that before)
Tanner Houck (His Whole Year)
I am hiding this as another attack on Alex Cora. Rest Houck, throw him in the bullpen. He only pitched four innings the other day, so I hope that they are already doing that. He has now hit 173 innings this season, surpassing his previous career high of 106.
What I Was "Mid" About
Rafael Devers Still Playing
Just pull the plug already. He was 0-11 in this series with like eight strikeouts. Everyone and their mother knows Dever’s is not right. Just sit him.
What I Didn't Love
Triston Casas
Let me explain….. I am fine with him doing all his weird stretching, and Tik Tok interviews, and interviews about Trevor Story in the shower. BUT, if you are going to do all of that, you better be performing on the field. He hasn’t… Since returning, he has three home runs and an OPS that leaves a lot to be desired.
Look, I am still butt hurt about the attacks I got when I wanted the Red Sox to trade Casas for Vladdy. I am not happy that my take is actually panning out. I want the Red Sox to succeed more than I want me to be correct. Unfortunately, it is looking like I am going to be correct.
