Overall Takeaway
I didn’t get to do a Red Sox review of the Mariners series the other day. I am in summer mode and lost track of what day it is.
Game 1: Red Sox 11-6
Game 2: Rangers 7-4
Game 3: Red Sox 7-2
What I Loved
Red Sox Offense
It has been one of the best in the league since that start of July, but has not gotten the run support needed to make things easy.
Rafael Devers
Over 1.000 OPS!!!!
And now it’s below 1.000 again.
Still below
Wilyer Abreu
Three homers in the series.
Crying in the dugout.
Rob Refsnyeder
Now I understand why he only plays against lefties.
Jarren Duran
Has a hit in 37 of his last 43 games.
Clutch home run in Game 3.
Won’t win MVP, but deserves some sort of award this off-season.
Ceddanne Rafaela
4-8 first two games
Unfortunatly, it seems like he will not win ROY. I will throw a fit if Langford wins it as he currently is the “betting” favorite.
What I Was "Mid" About
No Bullpen
Nick Sogard
It should have been Nick Yorke.
What I Didn't Love
Starting Pitching…. Again
Crawford and Houck have already pitched more than they have in their entire career. Houck, by a significant amount. Frankly, it is starting to show. Crawford has become plagued by the longball, giving up four on Friday. Meanwhile, Houck has been falling apart over the last seven games. A 5.54 ERA and 1.58 WHIP to go with 18 BB is no bueno. There aren’t any reinforcements coming, so they need to figure it out.
