Usually I get these blogs out directly after the game. Yesterday, I had begun my journey to Washington DC to attend a Nationals game (review of the stadium forthcoming.) I was in Philadelphia at a parking lot writing this blog and doing some touch ups and final thoughts. Suddenly, I was being harassed by two women for my car (Tesla) and for being on my phone in my car (I was parked in a Starbucks parking lot.) At first, I ignored them and continued writing, but then they started knocking on my window and calling me a fascist and devil worshipper. So, this is more of a review of how terrible Philadelphia is followed by some Red Sox talk.
I thought New York City was dirty and disgusting. Nope, Philadelphia is worse.
Traffic! My goodness! We were staying 10 miles outside the city, and it took WELL over an hour to get just into the city borders. There highway system is a complete mess (much of it only two lanes.)
I am told the food is good here, but it was impossible to get anywhere so I just went to Wawa. Wawa was good.
Back to the hecklers. It is insane how people will openly harass a person over the car they are driving. I know this has been going on, but I have yet to experience it until yesterday. Keep in mind, these were not homeless people wondering the street. These were two women in a Starbucks parking lot who just finished their mocha frappe and decided to come out and preach for some reason. People should stop watching politics and just watch baseball. Your life will be a lot better.
Overall Takeaway
I only got to watch Tuesday’s game. The next two were all radio. So I have a little less to say about specific plays as I zone out sometimes while driving.
Game 1: Red Sox 8-3
Game 2: Mariners 8-5
Game 3: Mariners 4-3
What I Loved
Triston Casas
I would be a hypocrite if I did not put Casas in the loved section. He had two three run home runs in the series, and started to show signs of life. Do I think he is going to turn around and hit over 25 bombs? No. I still think the team should try and move him. Now that he is showing a little life, that might be easier.
Brayan Bello
Bello brought a huge amount of energy to the mound Tuesday. He showed signs of brilliance, but also is typical command issues (3 walks over 5.)
Despite me not loving him last year, or during the documentary, I am cheering him on in hopes he becomes a solid #2 behind Crochet. If not, the team needs to go shopping for someone.
Alex Bregman
His OPS is approaching 1.000 as he is starting to pull away from Story and Campbell in the “best hitter department.” Surprisingly; he is slightly better away than he is at Fenway at the moment. His stats in day games however take a significant dip. But not today!
What I Was "Mid" About
Garret Crochet
Kind of have to drop him down because of his start today. That being said, he still gutted out 5 innings and struck out nine. For a bad start, it looked pretty good.
Jarren Duran
Has a .838 OPS the last seven days. I can’t put him up in “loved.” Need to see him be consistent for a few weeks. But he is getting there.
What I Didn't Love
David Hamilton
I’m just counting the days until we have the young guys up and can stop giving ABs to Hamilton. I understand there is some upside with him, but a .312 OPS is abysmal.
