Overall Takeaway
Boston could have swept this series, Boston could have lost all three games to this series. The feeling tonight would be exactly the same. Defeat.
The Roman Anthony news was a gut punch for everyone. Watching Game 3, you could just sense how deflated the team and the fans were.
Do I think this will ruin the Red Sox chance at a World Series run? Well, kind of. Boston is 46-27 since Anthony made his debut in June, and he has been a menace at the top of the order. Everyone just needs to pray that the 4-6 week timeline is four weeks on the dot.
Game 1: Red Sox 6-4
Game 2: Red Sox 11-7
Game 3: Cleveland 8-1
What I Loved
Brayan Bello
Battled thru five innings after a tough first two innings to start the game. Bello from a year ago would have imploded, but 2025 Bello is composed enough to handle the pressure. He was erratic, but didn’t overreact and change what he does too much. By the time the 3rd inning came around he settled down and was able to pitch long enough to earn the win.
Carlos Narvaez/Ceddanne Rafaela
Narvaez was the hero in Game 1, with Rafaela coming up clutch in Game 2.
Both Narvaez and Rafaela cooled off after the All-Star Break.
What I Was 'Mid' About
Dustin May In Bullpen
Rotation is very confusing right now, especially as they try and figure out Payton Tolle. I don’t hate the idea of May in the bullpen, he probably needs a reset, but I hate when a player who is clearly struggling starts getting moved around.
What I Didn't Love
Boston With Bases Loaded
Red Sox have been terrible with the bases loaded this year. Showed that again on Monday, but still won.
Roman Anthony Injury
Already spoke to it above, but this is heartbreaking.
Jordan Hicks
Safe to say that it is time to move on from him.
Garrett Crochet Cy Young Chances
They are now non-existent.
Wednesdays Loss
Red Sox could have won 30-0 and it still would have hurt.
