Overall Takeaway
I know the Cardinals aren’t great, but seeing the Red Sox finally break out for an entire season was a sight to behold. The second leg of a double header is always tough, and St. Louis was mailing it in. Regardless, the Red Sox were tearing the cover off the ball, and their confidence/vibes are sky high right now.
Game 1: Red Sox 13-9
Game 2: Red Sox 5-4
Game 3: Red Sox 18-7
What I Loved
OFFENSE
36 runs this series….. That is all.
Wilyer Abreu
Abreu is the best player in baseball right now. Hits homers, plays amazing defense, and hits in clutch moments. Do I think he is going to win the MVP? No, I am not crazy. But I will glaze him very hard until he falls off.
Alex Bregman
He was built for Fenway Park.
4-5 Sunday night with six RBIs. 2-4 on Friday.
Kristian Campbell… Again
He cooled off a little this series, but played great defense and scored a few runs. I am also still giddy about his extension, so keeping him here for now.
Rafael Devers
Last Sunday night, people on X were calling for Rafael Devers to be traded. He has completely turned it around, timing is back, and the Sox are rolling with him. OPS already back over .800 which is hilarious.
What I Was "Mid" About
Triston Casas
People will say I am targeting him, but I am not. He was solid Friday, but terrible again Sunday. Will keep him at mid for now.
Trevor Story
Hot and cold so far to start the year. He is not making great contact with the ball yet ( 86.6 MPH Exit Velo)
Jarren Duran
Like the last series, Duran is able to affect the game even if he only gets on base a few times. His speed is on another level, and gave Walker some major headaches this series.
Bullpen… Was Fine
They were not as good as last week, but they are still one of the team's highlights so far. It will be interesting to see what everything looks like when Liam Hendriks returns.
What I Didn't Love
Walker Buehler
I love the fact that Walker is openly acknowledging that his playing great in the playoffs doesn’t mean anything at this point. He is right, it doesn’t. Need him to pitch well in regular season.
Alex Cora Putting Campbell In CF
Probably no correlation, but Campbell played CF Sunday afternoon and went 0-3 with two strikeouts. I will not understand the purpose of moving players around the diamond. Campbell is a second baseman. The Red Sox have not had a franchise 2B since Pedroia. KEEP CAMPBELL
ESPN
I am a big Jordan Walker fan, and I felt terrible for him as he was just harassed by the announcers as the Red Sox kept shooting singles into right field. I can not wait for baseball to be off ESPN.
