Dean’s Corner
There's not much to write about this week. I really don’t know what I am going to do once the Red Sox are out of it. I will probably transition to some historical writing and highlight some amazing seasons that get overlooked. Hmm, that is actually a good idea. I just came up with it while I was writing, and I think I am going to go with that.
I know many of you are waiting on bated breath on word from the BBWAA and my attempt at becoming a member. While I did get one email response, I have yet to get one from the chapter leader. Looking at his position, I see that he seems like a busy man, so I will wait patiently.
Overall Takeaway
Late Tuesday night, as I began to fade into dreams, I thought for a moment, “Maybe if the Red Sox win out, they could make the playoffs.” There was a sweet fragrance in the air, and I could hear the singing of Sweet Caroline in the distance; the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and beyond it was a far green country under a swift sunrise.
And then I awoke, and I realized it was over. The 2024 season had fallen, and the darkness of the offseason was approaching.
But hey, maybe they will sign Juan Soto.
Game 1- Red Sox 4-1
Game 2- Red Sox 6-5
Game 3- Blue Jays 6-1
What I Loved
Tanner Houck
Round of applause to him and management for limiting his innings here at the end. He will finish the season on Sunday and hope to bring his ERA closer to that 3.00 mark.
Triston Casas Walking
After starting off cool, he has started to show his power and plate discipline.
Extra Innings Win
Another series, another extra-inning win for the Red Sox. 10-7 on the year, and have played the most innings our of every team in the league.
Bullpen
Kudos to the bullpen for deciding to show up when they are needed most…..(sarcasm)
What I Was "Mid" About
Brayan Bello
Can never love a 4.49 ERA.
What I Didn't Love
Vaughn Grissom
Man, that trade was terrible. It was a great game on Tuesday, and I hope something changes next year, but with all the young studs coming up, I don’t see where Grissom will fit.
Retiring The Blue Alternate Jerseys
Absolute money grabs, and I hate it because I know I will buy whatever they unveil.
