Dean’s Corner
The man (my fiannce) tried to take me down last month as we searched for wedding venues. Every time I went to tweet about Jarren Duran or Rafael Devers, I was peppered with, “Are you finding any good venues???” It is what I imagine hell is like.
But NO MORE. The venue is locked, and I am now sending all planning responsibilities back her way. You can’t build a mini baseball lordship while simultaneously planning a wedding.
Overall Takeaway
Game 1- Houston
Game 2- Red Sox
Game 3- Red Sox
What I Loved
Wilyer Abreu Rookie Of The Year?
I am just going to leave this here. Cowser is considered the “betting favorite.”
Masataka Yoshida
He comes in and hits a pinch-hit home run in a losing effort in Game 1; he probably should have started. Not much noise in Game 2, but bounced back in Game 3. If they haven’t already shot up, everyone should be buying his rookie autos.
Jarren Duran
He got on base nine times and struck out a big fat zero. Running out of great things to say about him but not striking out three games in a row is a win in modern MLB.
Seeing Triston Casas Again
I spoke about this the other day, but I will always stand by my “Trade Casas for Vladdy Take.” It is what I felt at the time and it is what I feel now.
He homered in this series and got on base six times. However, he also struck out six times.
Cooper Criswell
Longest outing since July 23rd, so I am not going to scream BULLPEN game. However, the bullpen was PERFECT today. That is something Red Sox fans have not seen in a few weeks.
What I Was "Mid" About
The Bullpen
I am not going to bash Kenley Jansen too much. He has been better than I expected this year. Still, it was a tough loss Monday.
The rest of the bullpen did… pretty solid. Greg Weissert is back, and while he fell apart in July, he was one of the best relievers from March to May. Wednesday’s game was a huge outlier, with the bullpen giving up a big fat ZERO runs. Hoping for the best the next month!
Nick Pivetta
If the team lost, I would have dropped him to “Didn’t Love,” but he did just enough.
Tyler O’Neill
He just has not been the same since going to the hospital. He has not hit a home run in the last nine games. I imagine he is regaining strength after the infection, but I thought it was important to point this out.
What I Didn't Love
Game 1
Wasted another Houck start.
That’s about it!
