Following my terrible week gambling, in which I dubbed myself “The Worst Gambler in America,” I knew I had to bounce back in a major way. Not only was I letting myself down with each losing pick, but I was also letting down my followers on X (GRMBets) who were tailing my bets. I promised everyone in my previous blog that I would get back to winning soon, and I delivered.
MONDAY (0-0, 0.00u)
NO PLAYS
I abstained from betting on MLB games on Monday. I did not love the slate of games and decided to trust the plan I put in place last week, meaning shorter cards and more days with no bets.
TUESDAY (1-0, +0.83u)
Mets -1.5 (-120, 1u) WON
Finally! Since the beginning of this blog series one month ago, I had lost my first bet of the week every single time until this week. The Mets were hosting the putrid Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, and every indication pointed to a blowout victory for the team from Queens. While the game was by no means a blowout (the Mets defeated the White Sox 6-4), they ultimately covered the spread thanks to an 8th-inning single from Francisco Lindor that scored Luisangel Acuna. That run was meaningless in the scope of the game but was massive for Mets -1.5 bettors like myself, as it increased the Mets’ lead from one to two. If this game was any indication of what was to come this week, luck would certainly be on my side.
WEDNESDAY (1-0, +1.2u)
Blue Jays ML (+120, 1u) WON
Two winning days in a row! This is an unprecedented feat in the short history of this blog series. Again, I didn’t get greedy and fill my card with just any bet that struck my eye. I stayed true to my word and only bet on my favorite game of the day. That decision was clearly a good one, as the visiting Toronto Blue Jays shut out the Rangers and only surrendered a single hit en route to a 2-0 victory. The Jays being underdogs was just the icing on the cake to what was a wonderful Tuesday (please don’t talk about how the Knicks got crushed and the Yankees only scored one run against the Angels later in the night).
THURSDAY (0-0, 0.00u)
NO PLAYS
Only five games were played on Thursday, two of which were Braves at Phillies due to a makeup game from the prior day, so I decided to not bet on MLB games this day and focus on researching for my bet on Friday.
FRIDAY (0-1, -1.0u)
Ozzie Albies o1.5 H/R/RBI (-105, 1u) LOSS
My aforementioned research was clearly ineffective, as my first loss of the week came on Friday. Ozzie Albies, along with the rest of the Braves offense (with the exception of Ronald Acuna), was relatively quiet against the Boston Red Sox. They scored in the bottom of the 1st inning but then proceeded to let up five unanswered runs, ultimately losing by a score of 5-1. Albies went 0-3 with a hit by pitch, tallying zero hits, runs, and RBIs. Albies had been on a five-game hitting streak prior to this game, so I clearly jumped on the train at the wrong time.
SATURDAY (2-0, +2.17u)
Marlins ML (+130, 1u) WON
Giants/Marlins u8 (-115, 1u) WON
My first multi-bet day came on Friday when I placed two wagers on the same game. Coming off a 2-0 loss to the Giants the day before, I was intrigued by the value on the Marlins at home. Additionally, due to the lack of offensive production all season by both teams’ offenses and the pitching matchup of Edward Cabrera and Robbie Ray, the under seemed like a safe bet. While the under was easy, as only a single run was scored all game, the Marlins winning the game was anything but easy. Miami scored one run in the second and held on to that tight lead all game as the Giants squandered runners in scoring position inning after inning. In the end, the Marlins were able to hold on and cash both of my bets.
SUNDAY (1-0, +0.87u)
Brewers/Phillies u8.5 (-115, 1u) WON
Going into Sunday, I strongly considered not betting on any games and ending the week on a strong note. However, I was seeing the board well and really wanted to turn what had been a good week into a great one. After the Brewers and Phillies combined to score 24 runs in the previous matchup on Saturday, I figured their offenses were due for some regression. Despite the Phillies jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning and a late surge from the Brewers that saw the club score 4 runs in the last three innings, my bet of under 8.5 total runs won as the Brewers won by a score of 5-2.
This was the bounce-back week I needed. I had lost money the previous few weeks, last week being my worst week in the history of this series. My approach was smarter and more consistent and resulted in big winnings. My final record was 5-1, and I won over four units (4.07 to be exact) on the week. If you want to hop on the hype train while I’m hot, make sure to follow me on X (GRMBets), where I post all of my bets.
Thanks for reading, everyone, and stay tuned for more blogs coming soon!
