Logan Henderson Has Already Made MLB History... And He's Only Made Three Starts
A Blog By Robbie
Logan Henderson has only started three games in his young career, but he’s absolutely carved everyone he’s faced, improving his record to 3-0 against the staggering O’s. The 2025 stats on Milwaukee's 12th-ranked prospect are as follows:
16 IP
1.69 ERA
0.81 WHIP
23 SO
Three Starts, Three Wins: His Historic Run Continues
Let’s start by breaking down each of his outings. In his debut start, the 23-year-old stud shined against the Athletics, going six innings pitched with nine strikeouts, three hits, and only one earned run, earning himself the win. His sole blemish came from a solo home run by Seth Brown, but aside from that, he was practically perfect. Milwaukee's 2021 fourth-round draft pick flashed his top two pitches, his four-seamer and changeup. Both of his offerings were extremely effective against the A’s, as his fastball got six whiffs on 20 swings, and the changeup had seven whiffs on 19 swings.
Next, was another spectacular start, this time against the Guardians, where he tossed five innings with seven strikeouts, allowing 2 earned runs on only 4 hits and a sole walk. One of the earned runs came from a solo home run by Kyle Manzardo in the second inning, but after settling in, he effectively tossed his fastball (averaging 92-94 mph) while displaying the changeup once again, which helped him rack up the seven punchies.
This brings us to his most recent start, his most dominant yet. Against the Orioles, the right-hander was nothing short of incredible, as he continued a historic start to his career, giving the Milwaukee Brewers five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and none earned, leading his team to their third straight win while he’s on the hill. When I said he’s carved everyone he’s faced, I meant it.
Here’s How He Does It
Henderson played college ball at McLennan Community College, and as a freshman in 2021, he led NJCAA Division I with 169 strikeouts while posting a 1.66 ERA, ranking third in the nation. He notably threw a seven-inning perfect game while fanning 31 hitters in 16 innings across two NJCAA World Series starts, leading to MVP honours as McLennan won the national title. After coming out of college, the Brewers selected Henderson in the fourth round (116th overall) of the 2021 MLB Draft, then signed for a $497,500 bonus, the slot value.
The Brewers’ rookie has already made MLB history, just three starts into his major league career. Henderson is the only pitcher to begin his major league career with three consecutive appearances that led to a winning decision paired with seven-plus strikeouts… absolute dominance. Before his call to the show, his MiLB career was solid. He threw 203.2 innings pitched with a 3.00 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and a 26.9% K-BB. The 23-year-old has established himself as a strike-throwing machine thus far (33.5% Ball), while using a traditional fastball-changeup combo to strike out at a phenomenal clip (40% of batters faced) Scout the Statline (StS) projects Henderson’s dominance to taper off a bit, as he will not be able to maintain this pace all year. The StS Peak Projections include a 3.80 ERA over 138 innings pitched with 141 strikeouts, 9.2 K/9, 1.08 WHIP and a 25.1% strikeout rate.
Why Logan Henderson Should Be On Your Radar
✅ Simple, but Effective Profile: Henderson’s arsenal starts off with a high-spin fastball (90-94 mph, occasionally touching 95-96 mph) with significant vertical break, and an elite changeup (80-82 mph) with tumble. He primarily uses the fastball-changeup combination, but he complements it with a mid-70s slider that he has thrown about four percent of the time. Additionally, he relies on a cutter (six percent usage) and a sinker (three percent usage). His matured command and deception, coming from his low release height, enhances effectiveness.
✅ Plus Control: Henderson’s K-BB tells the story about his control. In 2024, Henderson finished the season in Triple-A with a 6.93 K-BB. This year in the minors, he sported a 3.64 K-BB, and since being called up, he has an outstanding 5.75 K-BB.
✅ Swing and Miss Generator: The way Henderson gets batters to swing at pitches outside the strike zone is elite. During a small Triple-A sample size, he led all 22-and-under pitchers in Chase%. He also manages to keep barrels and hard contact in the air under control.
Henderson’s long-term role has presented some discussion, but Jose Quintana’s recent trip to the IL should help to clear the runway. Thus far, he has shown the Brewers’ front office that he has the potential to keep his spot in the rotation. His dominance at the big league level speaks for itself.
