Speed is usually the first word that comes to mind when thinking about Arizona Diamondbacks Rookie of the Year candidate and one of Major League Baseball’s fastest players…Corbin Carroll. For me it's TALENT.
Carroll has been a force to be reckoned with from the start of the season. This year Carroll has had 287 At-Bats where he produced 17 homer’s, scored 60 runs, stole 24 bases, hit 44 RBI’s (bats leadoff), 29 walks and posted a .289 batting average. Did I mention he owns a .365 OBP / .557 SLG / .923 OPS? The Diamondbacks have struck gold and landed a perennial all-star from their 1st round selection in the 2019 draft.
Standing at only 5 '10 " and 170 lbs Carroll isn’t the physical specimen one would expect to be this level of athlete but that doesn’t seem to affect his production on the field whatsoever. My opinion here is validated as he has been selected to his first all-star game this year. We shall see if he decides to play in the ASG as he has been dealing with a shoulder issue over the past few days but did re-enter Sunday’s game to pinch hit and grounded out.
Would love to see Carroll play amongst all of the MLB’s best talent but I can see the Diamondbacks and Carroll come to a conclusion to sit this one out as he is simply too valuable to lose to an unnecessary injury sustained while playing in the ASG. It seems that the injury is rather minor as he has already come back to pinch hit in a game but you never know how these things unfold until they do.
Carroll is one of my favorite players in baseball and I am so excited to watch him for years to come.
