Hi all! I’m excited to write for The Skippers View, writing about the game I love. I thought it’d be a good idea to give a brief introduction of myself and what you can look for from me in future articles.
My name’s Brad and I love baseball; MLB, MiLB, college, independent/foreign leagues, I do my best to watch and follow as much as I can. Most of my writing will likely be geared towards MLB and MiLB, but I’ll sprinkle in some college and other leagues from time to time. I do have some sports writing experience from college, and I’ve been back and forth on whether I wanted to get back into writing for a couple years now, so….I’m back, baby! Like many of you reading this, I played baseball for most of my life and fell in love with the game when I was very young, and I was fortunate to have played some D3 baseball. I was mainly a catcher but I’ve played every position on the diamond, which is something I’m proud to say. I’ll never act like I’ve played D1 and started for Vanderbilt or that I played pro ball, but I did learn a lot over the years and perhaps I can share some different views and insight on things.
I’d like to think that I have reasonable/logical takes, but I guess we’ll see if I have any “hot takes” moving forward. With sports media these days, it’s a lot of hysteria and click-baity headlines and topics, and I’m not into that kind of thing. Overall, my intention is to highlight player and team performances, revisit some baseball history, and discuss whatever baseball topics interest me that I’d like to explore more. I’m open-minded, not afraid to admit I was wrong, and open to a change of opinion on something after more review and thought.
I did say this would be brief, so I’ll wrap it up here. I’m here to talk ball, meet new baseball fans, and perhaps gain some life-long friends. Shoutout to Dean for giving me the invite to write for The Skippers View! I’ve been looking for something new to try, and writing again is something I’m very excited to get back into. On Twitter I like to highlight players and teams, share random stats and historical notes, and take a look back at baseball history and reminisce, so this’ll allow me to explore topics a bit more than in just a quick post. I love sports so I follow along with everything going on; it keeps me entertained while other sports are in their offseason, and there’s always something to watch and talk about. However, my favorite sport is baseball, and you can expect plenty of baseball discussion from me. Thanks again, Dean! I’m looking forward to writing, getting to know everyone, and interacting with all of you!
