As I continued to figure out the Twitter algorithm, I threw up a tweet that other day about sharing a meal with an MLB player. See below…
The tweet was quoted by two MLB legends, Wade Boggs and Dan Evans. I knew of Evans, but I thought he was much older, perhaps too old to be familiar with modern technology like Zoom. However, I was completely mistaken. Evans has just been grinding in the MLB since he was 20 years old.
Eager to learn more, I reached out to him with an invitation to appear on our podcast to discuss his life and career. To my delight, he responded with an enthusiastic "Let's do it!" I immediately slid into his DMs.
Evans was incredibly accommodating, making time in his busy schedule to talk to a guy who co-founded a baseball website with the dream of someday stepping onto Fenway Park's field. Our conversation revealed that Evans possesses an arsenal of fascinating MLB stories. I'll avoid spoilers here, but the names he mentioned were truly jaw-dropping (Jordan, Seaver, Thomas, Scully, etc). For Evans, these aren't celebrities; they're friends whose paths he's been fortunate to cross.
Our time with Evans on the podcast was enlightening, but 30 minutes scarcely scratched the surface of his deep understanding of the game and his vast array of stories. We're already planning to have him back for a more extensive discussion.
For those interested in connecting with Dan Evans or listening to his episode, I've listed the best ways to contact him and links to the podcast below.
