Giveaways and Podcasts
When I started “A Card A Day For 162”, I wanted a way to get our following out there. I won’t pretend and say that if you told me that my best friend could not work and do baseball media all day that I would jump at the opportunity. While that isn’t The Skippers View's goal, it is just a nice outlet for two friends to bond over. The thought of growing enough of a following to do this more is, of course, enticing.
I will say though the motivation for the giveaways has changed slightly. Many of the giveaways we have done end up in the hand of your MLB fans who are starting their own baseball card collections as they are introduced to America’s Pastime. While yes, I am sure some of the giveaway winners immediately sell the cards, you know who you are, but at the same time, many winners simply give the cards to their kids. Many have had me just address it to the young fans so they get the excitement of opening up their first baseball cards.
So, in a world where kids and teens are spending more time on their phones watching Tik Tok than breathing. If we can play a role in growing the game and getting more of the younger generation into our favorite sport, I am all for that. To try and reach as many people as possible, we changed the giveaways to daily ones. From our followers, we ask for a few simple requests.
