Good show, guys. Thanks! I am an old Pete Rose fan who has crossed the gamut of emotions from anger towards MLB, then anger and disgust towards Rose, and back and forth.
I must admit, however, that I feel more pity for a soon-to-be 83-year-old Rose who isn't getting any younger, and disgust towards Cooperstown, who designed a ban in 1991 specifically to keep Rose OUT of the Hall Of Fame. Yes, Rose did the crime, and he's doing the time, BUT he didn't cheat to set all those MLB records including his MLB-Best 4,256 hits!
Yes, Mr. Rose's banishment is a cautionary tale, but mercy will never be confused with MLB or Cooperstown, and both institutions look small indeed in their dealings with Pete Rose in 2024.
