It’s been a while since I did one of these due to a bachelor party and some other travel so for all our loyal Dodger fans, I apologize. I’m writing this on the way to Northern Michigan for a golf trip, but I’m determined to get it in, cause that’s what true journalists do. Dodgers had won their last 5 games until dropping the back half of the series in a split series vs my hometown team Milwaukee Brewers, but thank God Mookie Betts is back.
Overall Takeaway
Finally back to playing inspired baseball. No matter the poor decision Dave Roberts continues to make especially with who to give the ball to out of the bullpen. But guys like Alex Vesia and Michael Kopech have been nails and Kopech looks like the best acquisition of the trade deadline having not allowed a run in his first 7 appearances. Boy am I happy Mookie Betts is back. I’m writing this before I see my favorite pitcher Walker Buehler throw, but I’m stoked he’s back too.
What I Loved
Mookie Betts
4-9 3 RBI 1 HR through 2 games of this series, desperately needed his bat back.
Gavin Lux
Continues to be an anchor for the back half of the lineup, I’m so in on him.
Clayton Kershaw
Not only did I get to see one of the best LHP of all time throw live, but it was vintage Kersh. 5.2 shutty with 6 K.
My Tickets
Dean gave me some heat for sitting in the nosebleeds over the weekend but sitting 15th row for Kershaw Shove day was incredible. And I got to see Shohei and Mookie bombs.
What I Was Mid About
Will Smith
Only putting my favorite backstop in the league here because the turnaround is literally just starting. Got off to a brutal start in the 2H going 3-46 but has started to look much more comfortable at the plate especially this series and belted his 16th bomb of the year
Joe Kelly
Why do the Dodgers continue to roll a sub par reliever in high leverage situations? Because Dave Roberts is an awful manager
What I Didn’t Love
More injuries
Well of course another injury plagued the starting pitching. Young stud River Ryan is out for the year getting TJ, won’t see him till 2026. A shame really.
Dave Roberts
Until I see a World Series Ring, he’ll stay in this section. He’ll find a way to ruin a few playoff games
Series in Milwaukee
Other than attending in person, MLBTV blocks out local games so I couldn’t watch 3 out of 4 games
It’s been a solid week for a Dodger Nation, and with Walker Buehler rejoining the staff and Max Muncy rejoining the roster in the next week, I have some hope for the postseason. The NL West race is getting awfully sweaty but this is a good time of year to start playing the best ball of the season.
