Last two weeks of the season, so I wanted to make my playoff predictions. Feel free to fade me on whatever betting app you use.
AL Division Winners
AL East: Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles have a tough schedule to finish the year. With the exception of the Giants, they are playing teams who are still in the hunt—six against the Tigers, three against the Twins, and three against the Yankees. Frankly, I want the Red Sox to make the playoffs, so I need the Orioles to kill it in the next two weeks. For that reason, and the fact that Judge was assassinated by cartoon dogs, I have the Orioles winning the East.
AL Central: Cleveland Guardians
If I see the Royals and the Guardians in a playoff series, I am picking the Royals. However, I do not thinkthey will catch the Guardians here in the last two weeks.
Guardians are in the middle of a 17 game stretch with no off days. Lucky for them, three of those were against the White Sox(Sweep), and now they have a four-game set with the Rays, who stink.
Again, for the Red Sox to make the playoffs I need the Twins to collapse. Guardians have a four game series against them next week, so I hope it is a blood bath.
AL West: Houston Astros
The most exciting thing about the AL West at this point is the Oakland A’s.
Having seven games against the Angels locks the division for them. See you next year, Seattle.
AL Wild Card Teams
New York Yankees
The Yankees will probably win the East because their schedule to end the season is a joke, but I need the Orioles to go on a run for the Red Sox, so I am knocking the Yankees into a Wild Card slot.
There is a 75% chance I take old posts of Yankee fans crying about the Chisholm trade from a month ago and expose them.
Kansas City Royals
Royals have a “medium rare” difficulty in terms of schedule to end the year. Pirates and Nationals will be a breeze, but Tigers, Giants, and Braves are all fighting still.
I am officially back on the Bobby Witt Jr MVP train.
Boston Red Sox
Every time the season is dead, this team comes back and makes things interesting. They had no business beating the Orioles, but they did. Now, they enter the garbage pit that is New York City for a four game set. If they can split or win this series, I think they have the easiest schedule left of all the playoff hunters.
NL Division Winners
NL East: Philadelphia Phillies
Phillies are my World Series pick. Sue me.
NL Central: Milwaukee Brewers
Brewers have one of the more difficult schedules to end the season. Seven games against the Diamondbacks, three against the Phillies, and three against the Mets. However, the Cubs are far enough behind that they will be able to hold the division.
NL West: Los Angeles Dodgers
They aren’t winning the World Series, but they are making the playoffs!
NL Wild Card Teams
San Diego Padres
Padres get saved by a three game series against White Sox before taking on Dodgers and Diamondbacks. I won’t be surprised to see the Dodgers try and rest some starters here at the end.
Arizona Diamondbacks
Seven games against the Brewers is no bueno, so I think they will end up with the second WC spot as a result. Rockies and Giants series will help them hold off the Braves.
Atlanta Braves
Braves get in on the Mets choke job that is bound to happen the last two weeks of the season. Mets final ten games are against Phillies, Braves, and Brewers.
Important to note that the Braves don’t have a walk in the park either. However, nothing can stop a late September Mets collapse.
