Dean's Divisional Series Predictions
Not Betting, I Dont't Gamble. I just know ball.
I wanted to write a blog about my divisional series predictions, but then I realized I already made a graphic with them. Of course, I was wrong about the Orioles (yikes) and might be proven wrong about the Mets tonight. So, I will talk through everything below. But first, check out this nifty graphic.
ALDS: Tigers vs Guardians
I don’t feel great about my Guardians prediction over the Tigers after what they just did to the Astros. So, I am in a pickle. If I switch my choice now, I look like a coward. So, I will stick with my Guardians selection as I feel the Tigers’s youth/inexperience is more likely to show over a five-game series.
Dean Prediciton: Guardians.
ALDS: Yankees vs Royals
When making the above graphic, I thought, “Who would be a cool matchup in the World Series?” I came up with the Phillies and Orioles. If you listened to The Skippers View Podcast this week, you would have heard me immediately regret it due to the Orioles’s lack of starting pitching. It was a rookie move on my part, something that Brett would do.
I think the Royals have a real shot here. Let’s not forget Aaron Judge’s .211 career postseason average! I am also not blown away by the Yankees starters. The trio of Wacha/Lugo/Ragans tops what the Yankees have, and if Singer can give them one solid start, they are golden. Two slight issues here. First, Singer has a 7.79 ERA against the Yankees this year. Second, the Royals were 2-5 against the Yankees in 2024.
I am still going Royals.
Dean Prediction: Royals
NLDS: Padres vs Dodgers
Braves limped through the season and into the playoffs. So, beating up on them isn’t much of an accomplishment. That being said, the Padres looked scary in those two games.
Padres were 8-5 against the Dodgers this year. There starting rotation is leagues above the Dodgers right now. BUT, they don’t have Shohei Ohtani, and I want to see Ohtani go a little deeper into the playoffs.
Dean Prediction: Dodgers
NLDS: Phillies vs Mets
I am sticking with my Mets pick for the Wild Card series. Again, I am a man of my word. Am I nervous? Yes. Jackson Chourio is becoming a superstar in front of everybody and Milwaukee’s crowd is rocking. But, I just feel like Pete Alonso is going to have some clutch hit to put the Met’s on top.
Nevertheless, whoever makes it to the NLDS will have to come face to face with the Phillies who are my World Series pick. A few blogs ago Brett stole my Bryce Harper take from the podcast and put it in the blog. In classic Brett fashion, he gave no stats or context. I will post Bryce Harper’s stats below for those who aren’t aware of his work.
Dean Prediction: Phillies
