When I woke up this morning, I came across a lot of posts about Roman Anthony and where he is going to fit in the Red Sox lineup. With the way Alex Cora is tweaking the lineup, I won’t be surprised to see Roman Anthony behind home plate because he is athletic. Sorry…
Regardless, I went and checked his stats and they are… fine. Solid OPS, some power, and he gets on base. But what about the rest of the prospects in MLB’s Top 100? Well, I don’t have all the time in the world, so let’s take a look at the Top 10.
1. Roki Sasaki (RHP – Dodgers)
ERA: 4.15
WHIP: 2.07
Strikeouts: 9
Walks: 11
Innings Pitched: 8.2 IP
Sasaki was shaky his first few stars (notably after his first home start where cameras caught him tearing up.) He looked a little more in control last week again the Phillies, but still only went four innings. The “stuff” is there, but he clearly needs to adjust to the stage.
2. Roman Anthony (OF – Red Sox)
AVG: .167
OBP: .375
OPS: .808
Home Runs: 2
RBIs: 4
Stolen Bases: 1
I thought Roman Anthony had the best shot going into camp to make the big league roster. It was clear midway into spring, that with the 2B hole, Campbell was going to be the guy. Roman should be right behind them, and I imagine by May we see him in Boston.
3. Walker Jenkins (OF – Twins)
AVG: .125
OBP: .125
OPS: .250
Home Runs: 0
RBIs: 0
Stolen Bases: 0
Jenkins was just places in the IL with an ankle injury. So don’t expect these numbers to change.
4. Jackson Jobe (RHP – Tigers)
ERA: 5.00
WHIP: 1.56
Strikeouts: 7
Walks: 7
Innings Pitched: 9.0
I give him five starts and if he doesn’t have it figured out send him back down. Team needs to get him right for a run late in the season.
5. Max Clark (OF – Tigers)
AVG: .368
OBP: .556
OPS: 1.135
Home Runs: 1
RBIs: 9
Stolen Bases: 1
Fun fact: Me and Max Clark like each others X posts sometimes. I am still waiting for a follow.
6. Kristian Campbell (2B/OF – Red Sox)
AVG: .341
OBP: .440
OPS: 1.025
Home Runs: 2
RBIs: 5
Stolen Bases: 1
Campbell is one of only two here in the Top 10 that has made the big leagues. I am in love with everything about him. Locking up him was the best move the Sox have made in years.
7. Andrew Painter (RHP – Phillies)
Painter actually has not pitched yet this Spring. He will make his debut Friday in low-A.
All signs point to him being fast tracked to the big league this season.
8. Carson Williams (SS – Rays)
AVG: .200
OBP: .385
OPS: .618
Home Runs: 0
RBIs: 0
Stolen Bases: 3
If you put a gun to my head and told me to pick Carson Williams from a line of two people. There is a 100% chance I would not know who he was.
9. Travis Bazzana (2B – Guardians)
AVG: .364
OBP: .440
OPS: 1.076
Home Runs: 1
RBIs: 4
Stolen Bases: 2
I was of the mindset that we would not see Bazzana until 2026. His hot start however might change that. I imagine they wait until June and see where he stands. If he keeps tearing it up,
10. Jordan Lawlar (SS – Diamondbacks)
AVG: .250
OBP: .365
OPS: .684
Home Runs: 0
RBIs: 7
Stolen Bases: 4
Lawlar has been in the Top 20 now. There comes a point where you just got to feed him to the wolves and see what happens.
Has to be soon.
