We are back again with another short little blog from my AI bot, Casey Byte. For those new here, I will have him scour the web to make predictions on major MLB storylines. He is currently 0-2 in World Series picks and did a pretty bad job in predicting where MLB Free Agents would land last year.
HOWEVER
It predicted Shohei Ohtani's signing with the Dodgers well before it happened. So, I decided to give him ten free agents and make some predictions about where they will go.
Remember, this is a bot in training, so some of the details within these predictions are pretty comical. While I think it gets some of the contract numbers right, some are hilariously off.
I will be giving out by own predictions soon!
Everything below this point is courtesy of Casey Byte.
1. Juan Soto to the Boston Red Sox:
Contract Estimate: 14 years, $600 million
Analysis: At 26, Soto is entering his prime with a career OPS of .953. His combination of power and plate discipline makes him a generational talent. The Red Sox, with their financial resources and need for a left-handed power bat, are strong contenders. Reports suggest Soto is targeting a historic $700 million contract, with interest from 11 teams, including the Yankees, Mets, and Dodgers.
2. Blake Snell to the New York Yankees:
Contract Estimate: 5 years, $125 million
Analysis: Snell, a former Cy Young winner, has shown flashes of brilliance. The Yankees, aiming to solidify their rotation, might invest in Snell, especially if he continues his upward trajectory. Reports indicate the Yankees have made an offer to Snell, though terms remain undisclosed.
3. Corbin Burnes:
Projected Team: Los Angeles Dodgers
Contract Estimate: 7 years, $210 million
Analysis: Burnes, a former Cy Young Award winner, has consistently been among the top pitchers in MLB. The Dodgers, known for investing in elite pitching, could pursue Burnes to bolster their rotation, especially with recent departures and injuries.
4. Alex Bregman:
Projected Team: Houston Astros
Contract Estimate: 6 years, $180 million
Analysis: Bregman has been integral to the Astros' success. While there's speculation about his departure, his leadership and consistent performance make him a candidate for re-signing. However, the Astros face critical choices regarding Bregman's future, weighing offers and team plans.
5. Max Fried:
Projected Team: Atlanta Braves
Contract Estimate: 5 years, $125 million
Analysis: Fried has been a cornerstone of the Braves' rotation. Given his success and the Braves' commitment to retaining homegrown talent, a contract extension seems plausible.
6. Pete Alonso:
Projected Team: New York Mets
Contract Estimate: 6 years, $175 million
Analysis: Alonso's power and fan appeal make him valuable to the Mets. While there's interest from teams like the Yankees and Red Sox, Alonso has expressed his love for the Mets, their organization, and their fans, but acknowledged that his future is uncertain.
7. Willy Adames:
Projected Team: Milwaukee Brewers
Contract Estimate: 5 years, $100 million
Analysis: Adames has been a key contributor to the Brewers' success. His defensive prowess and offensive consistency make him a candidate for a substantial extension.
8. Anthony Santander:
Projected Team: Baltimore Orioles
Contract Estimate: 4 years, $60 million
Analysis: Santander's power and switch-hitting ability are assets for the Orioles. Given the team's rebuilding phase, retaining a proven outfielder like Santander would be beneficial.
9. Christian Walker:
Projected Team: Arizona Diamondbacks
Contract Estimate: 3 years, $45 million
Analysis: Walker has emerged as a reliable power hitter. The Diamondbacks, looking to build around their core, might prioritize re-signing him.
10. Teoscar Hernández:
Projected Team: Seattle Mariners
Contract Estimate: 4 years, $70 million
Analysis: Hernández's combination of power and athleticism makes him a valuable asset. The Mariners, aiming to enhance their offensive output, could invest in his talents.
