The Braves took on the Arizona Diamondbacks in a four-game set at Chase Field starting Monday, with the final game being on Thursday. The Braves, having just come off a hot weekend, The Phillies, taking two of three, and the Diamondbacks taking two of three from the Padres to get back to .500. Both teams were trying to continue their hot streaks; let’s see how this series went!
Monday
Monday's game did not disappoint, as two teams coming off series wins went head-to-head. The scoring started on a solo home run by Austin Riley, who continued his hot hitting, making the score 1-0. The score would stay the same until the sixth, when the D-backs would plate three runs on a Geraldo Perdomo single (advanced to second on an E6), a Corbin Carroll single, back-to-back-to-back walks, and a sac fly to make the score 3-1 D-backs. The Braves would be down to their last strike when Braves legend Eddie Rosario would single, and Sean Murphy would hit a two-run home run to tie the game. The Braves and D-backs would exchange sac flys to make the score 4-4, until Marcell Ozuna would hit a sac fly of his own, and that would be all the Braves would need. Atlanta would win this game 5-4, as the offense continues to show signs of heating up. Bryce Elder would be called up for a spot start and would put together another solid outing, going 5 innings and giving up 4 hits and 3 earned runs.
Notable Hitters:
Sean Murphy: 2-4 (HR, 2 RBI)
Austin Riley: 1-4 (HR, RBI)
Bryce Elder (5IP, 4H, 3ER, 2BB, 1K)
Tuesday
On Tuesday, the Braves would keep the bats rolling as they would plate two in the second inning. Adam Duvall would drive in three on a three-run home run in the sixth inning to make Atlanta's lead 5-0. Arizona would bring home two on a single, triple, and RBI ground out, and that’s all the scoring for both teams as the Braves would continue their winning streak (4 games). Chris Sale would have an “off night” while still competing 5 innings and striking out 9, only giving up 2 earned on 5 hits. A.J. Minter would toss a three-pitch inning in the top of the ninth, making him the fourth player and the first since John Smoltz in 2005.

Marcell Ozuna: 2-5
Adam Duvall: 2-3 (HR, 3 RBI)

Wednesday
On Wednesday, the Braves would send Charlie Morton to the bump to continue their winning streak. The Braves would open the scoring again in the top of the second on a single, double, double to put the Braves on top 2-0. The pesky snakes would slither back, tying the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the second. In the top of the third, Atlanta would keep rolling with a walk, single, and sac fly to take the lead back. The most underrated player, who is the starting second baseman for the National League, shows why he deserves it, as Ketel Marte would tie the game again on a solo shot to deep center, traveling 444 feet. The Snakes would plate two in the seventh as they would single, double, and single (9-1-6-3), but the run would score before the out was recorded, making it 5-3. The Braves would waste no time in the top of the eighth, as Riley would double, Ozuna would homer, and the Braves would tie the game again. Arizona would rally in the bottom of the eighth, plating two on a double, single, HBP, BB, and sac fly. Atlanta would fight, but Arizona kept putting pressure on the Braves and ultimately snapped their four-game winning streak.
Noteable Hitters:
Austin Riley: 3-4
Marcell Ozuna: 2-4
Travis d’Arnaud: 2-4
Charlie Morton (6.1IP, 5H, 4ER, 5K, 0BB)
Thursday
Thursday would be a pitcher’s duel as Max Fried and Brandon Pfaadt would both go 6 while both teams’ respective offenses were shut down. To start the game, Pfaadt retired the first eleven batters he faced until a two-out single by Austin Riley in the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fifth, Eugenio Suárez would lead off the inning with a solo shot on a 3-2 pitch, and that’s all the Snakes would need as they would win by that score.
Notable Hitters:
Austin Riley: 2-4
Marcell Ozuna: 2-4
Max Fried (6IP, 5H, 1ER, 3BB, 7K)
The Braves will head over to San Diego to play a three-game set against the Padres, and the Diamondbacks will finish out their homestand playing three against Toronto. Atlanta will try to finish the first half strong into the All-Star game break.
