As many of you know, I started a challenge at the beginning of the summer where I take a Red Sox team in MLB The Show and attempt to go 162-0 with them. Numerous rules go into it, so I will simply link to the blog below.
Undefeated or Bust: My MLB The Show 162-0 Challenge
Summer has started, and now I am free to spend my days going full-time for The Skippers View. When looking back at what has worked over the last year, one thing really stood out.
First, if you ever want to watch me play, I stream every game live on our X account and YouTube channel. I donโt provide commentary; I play. If you want to check in, please make sure to subscribe.
I am now about a third of the way through the season, 50-0, so I felt it was a good time to give an update. Now, I know many people questioned me about making the players 99 overall, and those concerns are valid. Still, I am playing in the Hall of Fame, and one bad game at the plate can ruin the whole challenge. And I have had PLENTY of those games. Currently, I have five walk-off wins in the bottom of the ninth inning, where I was losing the game. Many of those came in the first 25 games, when I was still figuring out my players. I have begun making numerous substitutions, both in batting and pitching, when it comes to matching up against the opposition. Rafael Devers, for example, never plays unless I need him against a righty late in the game. He has four home runs and three doubles; that is it. Everything else is an out.
My two most significant hurdles are the All-Star Game and the World Series. With the All-Star Game, I might be forced to play a lot with guys I am not used to. With the World Series, I have to make the opposing team all 99s, which will probably be the end of me. I thrive off beating on the opposing teams' relievers, and in the World Series, they will all be throwing 102 MPH with nasty off-speed pitches. If all my pitchers were also 99 overalls, that would be fine, but they arenโt.
Regardless, it is a fun ride I am on. Check out all my players and their stats below!
